Just because you’re allowed or are capable of doing something, doesn’t mean you need to — or should. Our world would be so much different if the kind of contemplation Bacon suggests was valued and rewarded the same as the capitalistic desire for power or growth. When something works, maybe you don’t need to try to make it better.
