Through Lines 125

Death Cab for Cutie’s 11th studio album, Asphalt Meadows landed (or dropped as the kids say) today and seeing live interpretations of these new songs really brings them to life. The third track “Foxglove Through the Clearcut” in particular shines in this unbroadcast set from Kimmel.

Notable Type Releases

  • The caps-only CoFo Cinema 1909 mixes art nouveau and modern sensibilities and achieves a stately elegance best suited to large display use cases.
  • I’m enchanted by the way Brigada combines a monoline with traditional broad nib pen forms while also incorporating unexpected and playful connections within the glyphs themselves. And it’s even still very readable!
  • Grilli Type has refreshed GT Pressura to modernize it beyond its 2012 origins while continuing to expand its visual voice. And a fantastic microsite as ever.
  • Traditional or historical may be terms that come to mind in describing Silvana, released through Blaze Type, but it manages to capture something modern in its classic sensibilities. The light italic style is a real showstopper.
  • Someone is going to need to explain to me what the point of an open source “on chain” typeface family is. Until then, I guess Unbounded may be the first.
